Project Description

A school majorly targeting Teenage Mothers

New Hope S.S.S

New Hope Secondary School is a school in Budondo Jinja, Uganda that provides education and support to teenage mothers who have dropped out of school due to pregnancy. Established to create hope to teenage mothers, The school is a mixed day and boarding secondary school. It was prudent to have these teenage mothers be re-introduced in a mixed community to have them learn how to live in a ‘real world’. The school is currently home to over 80 students with 20 of these being teenage mothers.

New Hope Secondary School offers a comprehensive program that includes academic classes, Vocational training, life skills training, and counseling. The academic classes are designed to help students atleast acquire an ordinary Level education certificate. Vocational training teach them how to earn for themselves, Life skills training teaches students about topics such as parenting, budgeting, and sexual, reproduction and health rights. Counseling helps students to deal with the emotional and psychological challenges of being a teenage mother.

The school has had a significant impact on the lives of the students who have attended. Many of the students have gone on to complete their secondary education and to pursue higher education. Some of the students have also started their own businesses.

The School is a valuable resource for teenage mothers in Uganda. We provide a safe and supportive environment where students can continue their education and build a better future for themselves and their children.

New Hope Secondary School is a shining example of how education can be used to change lives. The school provides a second chance to teenage mothers who have been marginalized by society. We are giving these young women the opportunity to build a better future for themselves and their children.
